Chris Geldmacher Gets $610,000 for Uber Driver Injured in Car Accident

Christopher Geldmacher represented a 46-year-old Uber driver injured in a car accident while leaving St. Louis Lambert International Airport. The client was stopped at an intersection and waiting to make a left.  He got the green arrow to go and started to turn when a driver of a Jeep Cherokee ran a red light and hit the client’s vehicle.

The driver of the Jeep Cherokee initially denied running the red light.  However, witness testimony from a person who saw the collision established that Jeep’s light was red when it approached the intersection.

The client suffered serious injuries from the accident and required about two years of focused medical treatment.  The most serious of his injuries were herniated discs in his cervical spine (neck). Ultimately, he needed a complicated disc replacement surgery at four levels of his neck.

Mr. Geldmacher pursued a claim against the other driver’s insurance policy, but the at-fault driver only carried $100,000 in insurance coverage.  The $100,000 of coverage did not come close to compensating the client for his injuries.

Knowing that his client was facing having to accept far less than his claim was worth, Chris launched an investigation into alternative coverages which could be used to help satisfy his client’s injury claim.  That investigation revealed additional insurance coverages that Chris used, including underinsured motorist coverage and medical payment coverage, that allowed his client to receive much more of a recovery than was available at first look.  In the end, Chris was able to obtain a $610,000 settlement for his client.
