$250,000 Herniated Disc Injury Settlement for Mother of Four Rear-Ended in Wildwood, Missouri

Sauter Sullivan’s Chris Geldmacher successfully represented a 41-year-old mother of four for a herniated disc injury settlement. This woman was rear-ended while turning onto Clayton Road in Wildwood, Missouri. After the accident, the woman went to urgent care and then followed up with a chiropractor.  

The chiropractor noticed she was exhibiting symptoms that could be signs of injuries to discs in her spine.  So, the chiropractor ordered MRIs of her neck and low back.   The MRIs confirmed what the chiropractor had feared.  She had suffered herniated discs in her neck and lower back from the collision.   Upon seeing the results of the MRI, the chiropractor referred the woman to a spine surgeon.

The spine surgeon examined her and told her that her injuries made her a candidate for spinal surgery to fix the problems in her spine.   Chris’s client was given the option to have surgery or put it off for now while she attempted to manage her pain through epidural steroid injections.  She opted to hold off on surgery and try the injections.  She was referred to a pain-management specialist and received several rounds of epidural steroid injections to treat her pain.  At the time of settlement, she understood that she will need to continue to receive these injections to avoid having to have surgery.

The insurance company initially refused to admit that the woman’s injuries were related to the accident, going so far as to hire an expert in the hopes that it could argue it was not responsible to her.  The injured woman hired Sauter Sullivan and Chris Geldmacher to fight for her.   Chris was persistent in providing evidence to the insurance company connecting her client’s injuries with the accident she was involved in. In the end the insurance company relented and paid our client a settlement of $250,0000 for her injuries representing the full insurance policy limits available.
